Brighton Marathon questions
When should I start training for Brighton Marathon?
Most runners need 16–22 weeks. Counting back from Sunday 4 April 2027, an 18-week plan starts on Monday 30 November 2026 and a 22-week plan on Monday 2 November. Start later and Kyrvo shortens the base phase.
Is Brighton a good first marathon?
Many first-timers choose it. The organiser calls it the UK’s third-largest marathon, with big crowds, cheer zones and a seven-hour cut-off. It is not flat, with about 477 ft (145 m) of climb, so pace the early miles carefully.
How hilly is the Brighton Marathon?
Moderately. The organiser lists about 477 ft (145 m) of climb, with the four main climbs at miles 1, 7, 9 and 11, so the biggest hills are done by mile 11. There is also a short section of block paving at mile 4.5.
Where does the Brighton Marathon start and finish?
It starts in Preston Park and finishes on Hove Lawns. The organiser confirms the 2027 start time about five weeks before race day.
Can I still get a place?
The organiser’s page said general entry was open when we last checked, and charities offer places with a fundraising target. Entries cannot be deferred, transferred or refunded, and runners must be 18 or over on race day.
Do I need to sign up to see the plan?
