Coaching notes for this course

Out through Meanwood to OtleyThe 26.2 mile route starts at Headingley Stadium, runs north through Meanwood and around Golden Acre Park, then out to Bramhope and Otley before coming back down Leeds Road to the stadium. It mixes city streets with the roads of the towns beyond, so some of your long runs are best done on varied, open routes.
Check the elevation mapRun For All publishes an elevation map for this course, and you should study it before you set a goal pace. Your plan teaches you to run by effort on any rise rather than by pace.
A big first-edition legacyThe race supports the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal and the MND Association, and the organiser says the first Leeds Marathon drew over 10,000 runners. Expect a busy early course, so start steadier than your goal pace and save marathon-pace work for the second half.

Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon questions

When should I start training for the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon?

Most runners need 16–22 weeks. Counting back from Sunday 9 May 2027, an 18-week plan starts on Monday 4 January 2027 and a 22-week plan on Monday 7 December 2026. Start later and Kyrvo shortens the base phase.

Where does the Leeds Marathon start and finish?

Both at Headingley Stadium, with a 9:00 am start listed by Run For All for 2027. Confirm times with the organiser.

How hilly is the Leeds Marathon?

Run For All publishes an elevation map on the race page. We have not copied a climb figure because we could not verify one, so check the map before you set a goal pace. The route goes out through Meanwood, Golden Acre Park, Bramhope and Otley.

Is it the same day as the Leeds Half Marathon?

Yes. The Leeds Half Marathon runs from the same stadium on the same day, and the marathon starts first. Make sure you are training for the right course.

Can I get a place?

Entry was open on the Run For All page when we last checked, and partner charities also offer places. Runners must be 18 or over on race day. Entry details change, so check the organiser’s page.

Do I need to sign up to see the plan?

No. Answer three questions to see your full plan. Create a free account only if you want to save it and have it adapt.

Is Kyrvo really free?

Yes. Kyrvo is free to use. Any race or kit links that earn us a fee are clearly labelled, and we never sell your data.
